Mon premier voyage en Asie du Sud-Est prend forme maintenant. Il semble que ma base d'aéroport soit à Bangkok, Thaïlande. C'est vraiment le point de départ idéal en Asie pour rayonner et aussi revenir en cas d'un retour urgent et non planifié à la maison.
Donc je planifie de rejoindre le Laos d'abord, rester dans le nord pour me perdre dans les petits villages dans les montagnes. Ensuite descendre le Mékong vers le sud jusqu'au Cambodge qui sera le deuxième pays que j'ai l'intention de visiter. Je n'ai jamais été au Laos auparavant et je viens juste de passer 2 jours de recherche pour obtenir le maximum d'information. Et je peux dire que ça ne va pas être simple. Le Laos semble être un pays si riche que je ne sais pas comment je vais en faire le tour en seulement 3 semaines comme j'avais initialement prévu.
Je planifiais ce voyage sur 8 semaines, je vais devoir rajouter au minimum 2 semaines et je devrai surement raccourcir mon séjour au Cambodge ou au Viêt-Nam qui sont les pays que je connais déjà le mieux.
Parce que j'attends aussi beaucoup de ma visite en Birmanie qui a la réputation d'être un pays extraordinaire avec un peuple étonnant que je suis impatient de découvrir..... je vais devoir faire des choix difficiles pour arriver à faire le maximum dans le temps imparti. :-) Bien que ce ne soit vraiment pas la quantité de lieux où je me rendrai qui soit le plus important.
Donc pour l'instant je commencerai par le nord du Laos, puis je descendrai le Mékong jusqu'au Cambodge. Un endroit prioritaire où je me rendrais là-bas : Battambang où mon fils ainé Ethan est né il y a presque 9 ans. Et ensuite beaucoup d'autres village que je serai heureux de visiter à nouveau. Puis retour sur le Mékong pour rejoindre le sud Viêt-Nam. Il y a beaucoup de villages de pécheurs dans le Delta du Mékong où je passerai autant de temps que possible. Puis remontée jusqu'au nord Viêt-Nam, ses montagnes, l'incontournable baie d'halong et enfin la Birmanie avant de rentrer à la maison et préparer le voyage suivant. Je n'ai pas encore travaillé le Vietnam et la Birmanie, ça viendra dans les prochains posts.
Seulement 8 semaines.....je ne sais pas comment je vais faire :-)

My first trip to Southeast Asia is shaping up now. It seems like my Airport base will be in Bangkok, Thailand. It really is the most convenient place in Asia to hang around from and also to reach back in case of an urgent and unplanned return home.
Therefore I'm planning to reach Laos first, hang around in the northern part and get lost in the small villages up in the mountains. Then go down south the Mekong River all the way to Cambodia, the second country I intend to visit. I've never been to Laos before and I just spent 2 days of heavy research to get as many informations as possible. And I can tell it's not gonna be easy. Laos seems to be such an amazing country that I don't know how I'm going to make it in only 3 weeks as I first intended to.
I was planning this trip in 8 weeks, I'm going to have to increase it at least by 2 more weeks and I will probably shorten my stay in Cambodia or in Vietnam which are the countries I already know the best. Because I also expect a lot from my visit in Burma which is supposed to be such a great country with amazing and lovely people to meet.....well, well, well, these are not going to be easy choices I will have to make. :-)
So for the moment I will start with northern Laos, then down the Mekong River to Cambodia. Then hang around in Cambodia with one specific place to go to : Battambang where my older son Ethan was born almost 9 years ago. And so many other great places there that I will be happy to visit again. Then again the Mekong River down to the south Vietnam. There are many villages there in the Mekong delta where I will try to spend as much time as possible. Then all the way up to north Vietnam and then Burma before coming home and get ready for the next trip.
I will work on my visit to Vietnam and Burma later and of course post all my comments at that time
Only 8 weeks.... I really don't know how I'm gonna make it :-)
